Walking and Hiking tours

Allow professional and experienced operators associated with Paddy Pallin introduce you to the mountains. The experience you enjoy could take you across an Alpine Sunset, a Brumbie stroll, or a Sunrise Walk. You might even decide to take a star-lit midnight walk to areas including Mount Twynam, Blue Lake, the Snowy River Headwaters, the Kosciuszko Summit, or the Western Fells and The Sentinel.

Mountain Bike tours and hire

There are South East Mountain Biking (SEMCO) stores located within the communities of Tathra and Thredbo that can be contacted at 02 6457 6234. The experts there will help you plan mountain bike tours following snow-draped mountains, along the south-east coast, purchase bicycles and equipment, or visit the nerve-bending downhill ride at Thredbo village.

Boat Hire

If you're thinking of hiring a boat, Snowline Boat Hire can be found in Snowline Caravan Park at the road junction of Kosciuszko and Thredbo in Jindabyne. You can hire their open and half-cabin fishing boats that come equipped with a 9.9 hp motor, 2-way radio, rod holders, and room enough for five or six adults. You might also consider hiring out the best fishing boat you will see on the lake, our 5-meter Marlin Broadbill. If that's not enough, consider water skiing in cooperation with our experienced driver. Whether you are eight years old or going on eighty, anyone of any age can try. Alternatively, you might hire paddle boards, Canadian-make canoes, and aqua bikes. In addition to fishing tackle for hire, we also provide access to a large amount of tackle, lures, and live bait. Later, you can visit the tennis court equipped with lights and a super grass grounding.

At the heart of Australia's Snowy Mountains lies the Kosciuszko National Park. Not only is the park one of Australia's highest when considering sea level, but it is also one of the most expansive in terms of area. The diverse area it covers protects a wide range of plant and animal life, and more than three million people visit the park every year in order to enjoy and explore the wild areas inside the protected park. Visitors can join in with activities as diverse as mountain biking, snow skiing, caving, bush walking, and camping.

Trout Farm - Eucumbene

Guided tours are available at Eucumbene Trout Farm, where you will have the chance to see the Trout farm and all growth stages of the fish including the hatching and growing sections. You are guaranteed to catch mountain trout in the "Sure Catch" fishing area. The venue is equipped for all weather conditions and is open every day of the week.

Kosciuszko Walk

One of the "must-do" activities while visiting the mountains here is a walk to Mt. Kosciuszko. The walk begins either from the top of the Thredbo chairlift ride or through Charlottes pass. With a to-and-back distance of 14 kilometers, the walk is a reasonable one for most healthy people. You should be aware of weather conditions, however, as sudden changes happen often and extremely quickly.

At Silvertop there are a large number of Eastern Grey kangaroos. Other animals also abound, including echidnas, hairy-nosed wombats, and Bennett's wallabies. You might even see an emu or brumby. Because of the proximity to Kosciuszko National Park, you are sure to experience many wild adventures. The staff is also very happy to be of service to you.

Swimming

You can take your pick of a heated indoor pool, Lake Jindabyne, or even a cold mountain stream to enjoy a refreshing swim.

Motorcycling

An enthusiast of motorcycling one put it this way, "When wishing to create a road bike playground, the Snowy Mountains certainly would be the template." Some of Australia's best routes for motorcycles can be found in the region. Combine that with unbeatable scenery, the backdrop of Snowflake, and unique local features and you are sure to enjoy your travels here.
